Living in Ireland

I have met many people living and working in Ireland who are not from here, like myself. The numbers of people that are coming to Ireland is increasing every year. This site is aimed at helping you, helping you to know a bit more and what to expect, whether you decide to live in Dublin as most do or head into the regions of Ireland for the quieter life.

If you are considering moving to Ireland to work or study for a while it could be the best move you ever make at present. These pages are designed to help you know what you have to do to make living in Ireland possible.

The hardest part of moving country or city is finding somewhere to live. I have lived in Glasgow, Vienna, Prague, and now Dublin – the main problem in the beginning was always finding good suitable accommodation. See the page on Irish accommodation.

Next find a job. Many will have explored this option before coming here and in the world of the internet it is very easy, however employer will more often want to see you before offering you a job. Find out how to deal with the employment problem on the Working in Ireland page.

How good is your English? It does not have to be perfect, but the better your English the better chance you have of finding well paid work – there are many language schools in Dublin and around Ireland – day and night classes.

Furthering your education while in Ireland is easier than most European countries. There are many evening courses leading to formal qualifications and the choice is diverse.

Once you have a job, somewhere to live, and have settled what do you do next? What is there to see and do around Ireland and Dublin? See the attraction page for some ideas.

And lastly what is the Irish Culture like? See that page for more information.

And best of luck in your new home, and see the Irish Blog for current information.
